1 KB = 1,000 bytes. Exam presets stay under max × 1,000 and above min × 1,024 bytes, so either reading of “KB” passes.

Proportional, never cropped or enlarged.

Output is JPEG. Transparent areas become white. Check the preview before using it.

Questions

Passport or visa photo? Use the passport photo checker: official US and UK rules stay there, and the UK online route must not be re-saved.

Why did my phone photo get smaller dimensions? +

A 12-megapixel photo usually cannot fit in 50 KB at its full size without falling below our JPEG quality limit. With “Shrink if needed” on, the tool reduces both dimensions proportionally until the file fits, and shows the new size. Turn it off to keep the dimensions; the tool then explains if the target cannot be reached.

Is 1 KB 1,000 or 1,024 bytes? +

Both readings exist. For custom targets, 1 KB = 1,000 bytes, so a 100 KB target means at most 100,000 bytes. Exam presets keep files at or below the maximum × 1,000 bytes and at or above the minimum × 1,024 bytes, so the file passes whichever reading the form uses.

Where do the exam presets come from? +

Each preset links to the official notice it was copied from (IBPS CRP PO/MT-XVI, SSC CGL 2026, NEET (UG) 2026) with the date we checked it. Notices change each cycle, so confirm the current notice before you apply. SSC CGL 2026 captures the photo live in the form, so only the signature has a preset.

Is my photo uploaded? +

No. Decoding, compression, preview and download happen on this device. There is no account, payment or photo upload. Removing the image clears the tool's current preview.

What happens to transparent images? +

JPEG does not support transparency. Transparent PNG or WebP areas are filled with white. Animated images are not supported; use a still image.
